Kivalliq Inuit Association

The Kivalliq Region is located on the west coast of the Hudson Bay. There are seven communities in the region with approximately 8,000 residents. Kivalliq Inuit Association (KIA) represents the Inuit of the Kivalliq Region in the development, protection, administration and advancement of their rights and benefits as an aboriginal people and works to promote their economic, social, political and cultural well being. Currently, KIA is focusing on issues related to Lands (water management, land use/administration, mapping), the Environment (policy, resources, sustainability) and Arts & Culture (heritage conservation, traditional knowledge, language, elders).
